My Video Work Presented Monumentally in Umeå city
Tonight, this year’s Höstljus Festival in central Umeå opens, running over the next three weeks. I am pleased to, this year, present a monumental video work projected onto a building facade in the city center at Kungsgatan 44, Umeå.
The video work, titled ""I den varsamt lugna horisonten står vi inför historiens lagrade närhet i mitt arv" (2024), combines the forces of the sea with a personal landscape history along the west coast of Scotland, a place and a sea where one of my relatives survived two shipwrecks in the early 20th century.
In the work, a scene is staged depicting a meeting against the horizon, where time, memory, and the body move together. The piece can be seen as a dialogue with Caspar David Friedrich’s Mönch am Meer (1808–1810), in which humanity confronts the infinite and the enigmatic grandeur of nature. At the same time, the scene connects to my previous contemplative landscape portrayals, where nature becomes a space for identity, loss, and transformation.
Through the staging, the landscape is explored as both a passage and a barrier, serving as a symbol of belonging and vulnerability. The sea carries not only stories but also functions as a metaphor for our in-between space between past and present, between the place we visit and the one to which we belong.

So excited to finally share my new website!
Over the past few weeks Albin Ulvebring has built and designed it from the ground up, creating a brand-new graphic profile and identity that feels so right for me and my work. It’s been an incredibly fun, creative, and inspiring collaboration from start to finish, and I’m really happy with the result.
I’ve also uploaded my latest works from this summer and early autumn, along with some updated texts that I’ll continue adding to over time.

Preparations for the upcoming exhibition
Today, I visited the venue where my partner, Rebecca Sharp, and I will be holding a duo exhibition at Apoteketshuset in Sollefteå. It’s going to be very exciting to present our works in such a beautiful space. We came away with some new ideas and various measurements that will form the basis for the exhibition model we’ll start working on in the coming weeks. More to come soon.

New Things Are Happening Now!
Right now, a lot of work is happening that might not be visible here on the website, but much of it revolves around my artistic practice, where I’m working on the final details of editing the pieces I created during my residency. I have also started work on an entirely new website, which will be designed by Albin Ulvebring. I’m very excited to soon be able to launch a completely new, in-depth site, full of updates and news.

Starting Our Public Art Vision in ÅngeMunicipality
Last week, Rebecca Sharp and I began our vision work for public art in Ånge Municipality and Region Västernorrland an exciting project that we look forward to exploring together throughout the fall.
The first few days were filled with rewarding meetings and inspiring site visits around the municipality, which laid a solid foundation for the work ahead.

Tracing Landscapes: Reflections
Over the past two weeks, I’ve had the privilege of being in residence along the Ångerman River in Västernorrland. Here, I’ve had the time and space to delve deeper into my artistic practice, explore the landscape’s vistas, and create new works in the environments once inhabited by Helmer Osslund places I’ve long wished to follow.
The residency has also given me the opportunity to plan upcoming projects and exhibitions, for which I’m deeply grateful. I carry with me the shifting moods of the place, new reflections, and the morning light that dances over the river. A heartfelt thank you to Kulturreservatet Marieberg for allowing me to spend these days between the last nights of summer and the first steps of autumn.

Sceneries in Light
During my residency period, I have been focusing on creating new photographic works along the Ångermanlands älven, where I am currently based. It has been a wonderful experience to see and explore these landscapes in different light throughout the day and night. Being right in the middle of the landscape, I have just a 15-minute walk to reach this view.
It often feels as if I am stepping into the world of motifs created by the Swedish northern artist Helmer Osslund, which was one of the reasons I accepted this residency. His work has recently been a major inspiration for me in depicting the landscape and the concept of scenery, central to his nature-romantic imagery.
I also find myself reflecting on how we are nurtured into different forms of knowledge and literacy for the landscape. It is easy to connect this to one’s personal background when walking on the white moss, noticing the lingonberry bushes underfoot, and climbing the small hills scattered throughout the forest. These moments shape how I perceive and interpret the natural world in my work.

Double Meetings on Future Projects
Yesterday, I had two inspiring meetings focused on exciting upcoming collaborations and exhibitions. I'm pleased to be part of Höstljus in Umeå once again this year. I will present a new video work projected in central Umeå, with the opening scheduled for late October. More details will be shared soon.
I also had a meeting regarding my ongoing collaboration with artists Gustav Hellberg, Linda Peterson, and South Korean artist Borahm Kim. Together, we are preparing a joint exhibition as part of our residency in Surnadal, Norway, next summer.
The discussion with the residency's artistic director, Jon Arne, helped shape our plans for both the process and the exhibition. I'm excited to share more as both projects develop.

Insights and Upcoming Projects: A evening with Curators
Yesterday morning, I temporarily left my artist residency as I had the great pleasure of hosting a studio visit for curators Statens Konstråd and directors from Sweden and abroad at my studio in Örnsköldsvik.
I spoke and shared my experiences, presented my work, and also gave a brief introduction to some of my upcoming exhibitions and projects that I’m currently working on. A heartfelt thank you for the opportunity to share my experiences with you during your short visit.

Artist in Residency, Day 1
Today I arrived at my artist residency, where I will be staying for the next two weeks. It truly feels special to have the opportunity to settle into the landscape and, in peace and quiet, lay out a clear plan for my upcoming exhibitions and projects. I also look forward to having time to do research for new works and to create on site.
I’m located along the Ångermanlandsälven in the High Coast, known for its land uplift and breathtaking views. It will be exciting to see what new insights and ideas I gather during this period. The photo was taken from the kitchen window of the apartment where I’ll be living during my stay.

On One of the Hottest Days
Over the past few days, I completed my latest photographic staging, a process I’ve previously spoken about. Working on this piece during one of the hottest days of the year brought with it both physical intensity and a heightened sense of presence. There’s something quietly rewarding about being able to create in a still, undisturbed environment, even when the heat presses in and becomes part of the experience itself. The atmosphere , thick with summer shaped not only the images but also the emotional tone of the entire session.
This particular scene will be revealed at a later stage, once I’ve settled on its final title. It will form part of a new artistic direction I’m exploring in my forthcoming projects, a shift that feels both necessary and invigorating. As always, I’m drawn to the intersection of light, place, and memory, and this work continues that journey in a new, more intimate way.
I also recently received some joyful news, something I’m truly excited about and eager to share in due time. For now, I can only say that what’s ahead feels filled with possibility.

Sketch Photography Begun, The In-Between Space as Memory and Presence
I have carried a particular scene with me for a long time, one that I previously photographed and have long felt a desire to revisit and further develop. Today, I finally began the sketch photography of this scene that has stayed with me since 2018.
It feels exciting to reawaken this photographic moment, where light, the human presence, and the in-between space between humanity, aging, and the landscape take center stage. To be continued...

View from my desk towards the river
Since the opening of the exhibition Fram i ljuset in Ängelholm, time has flown by. I am currently teaching at the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, where I am leading a summer course in photography on my own with a focus on critical gaze and stage. The course is held online and brings together around twenty participants from both Sweden and abroad.
Together, we explore photographic expression through themes such as the human figure, landscape, light, and the significance of place. It's incredibly rewarding to work with a group that brings such a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
At the same time, I’ve been active at Mid Sweden University Sundsvall, where I’ve taught in photographic project development. It’s been an intense and enriching period, where together with new colleagues. I’ve guided students in shaping and deepening their own photographic ideas and processes.
In recent years, summer has become an important time for my artistic practice. The extended daylight and more stable weather make it easier to realize ideas, especially projects that require outdoor work or the construction of scenographic elements. It's a time when I can build, test, and develop works that I've carried with me for some time.
As the first part of the course soon comes to an end, I’m hoping for a short break and the opportunity to begin new projects and dedicate more time to my own artistic work.

Thank you for a wonderful vernissage!
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by my vernissage at Galleri Moment in Ängelholm yesterday!
It was such a joy to share my latest works with you but even more meaningful that you took the time to stay, look, and ask questions. Your curiosity and interest truly made me happy. Hearing your thoughts and reflections is always a highlight for me.
I'm also especially glad that the long titles this time were shown alongside the images, helping to tell the story and add more layers to the experience. The exhibition runs until June 19, so if you're in the area, you're warmly welcome to stop by then as well.

Hanging the new exhibition
Today I installed my new solo exhibition at Galleri Moment in Ängelholm. There’s something uniquely rewarding about watching the works settle into the space — how the light moves across the prints, how they begin to interact with each other, and how the room starts to breathe with the presence of the images. Alongside the photographs, I carefully placed the titles, creating a dialogue between image and text. The titles act almost like quiet companions, subtly guiding the viewer into each scene and opening up new layers of interpretation. Exhibiting in southern Sweden again holds a special meaning for me.
Ängelholm is just a short distance from where I began studying photography twelve years ago, and returning to this region with a body of work feels both grounding and surreal. It’s a reminder of where the journey started — the early experiments, the search for a visual language, and the first steps into artistic practice.
Now, more than a decade later, I return with new eyes but the same deep curiosity for the photographic image. This exhibition is not just a presentation of recent work. It is also a quiet reflection on time, place, and creative growth. I’m proud to share it in a setting that feels so personally resonant. To return here not as a student, but as an exhibiting artist, feels like closing one chapter while opening another.

Upcoming exhibition, next week
In the exhibition Fram i ljuset (“Into the Light”) at Galleri Moment, Stridsberg presents a new series of photographic works in which the gaze and the presence of light serve as central elements in a collection of visual poems.
These carefully staged photographs are part of his ongoing project Nattens grönska (“The Greenery of Night”), through which he explores his sense of in-betweenness – a state of being situated between places, identities, or experiences – in relation to nature. The works trace a shifting connection to landscape, shaped by both physical surroundings and emotional resonance.
In this body of work, light does not merely illuminate; it becomes an active participant, guiding the viewer’s attention and creating moments of intimacy and tension. The photographs function as poetic encounters, fragments of a visual language that unfolds slowly and suggestively.
As a unique element in this exhibition, the titles of the works are extended into the physical exhibition space, forming a dialogue between text and image, between word and light. This approach feels particularly meaningful given Galleri Moment’s direct connection to the local public library – a space where stories, language, and imagination also reside.
Together, these elements form a contemplative and layered experience one that invites viewers to linger, to look more closely, and to step into a world suspended between reality and reverie.

Back to the studio
Today, I was finally back at work and started sketching one of my upcoming projects that I’ve been eager to dive into for quite some time. This project is a scenography for a photographic work that I hope to bring to life in the near future, ideally this summer, or at the latest before autumn and the bad weather arrives.
It’s always exciting to begin on a smaller scale, working with models that allow me to experiment, test ideas, and find solutions before the real challenges of building begin. This is where I explore how the scenography should look and what it should contain.
Sketching is always my method – a way to weave together images and thoughts I’ve carried with me. It’s my way of thinking through and feeling into the project. Once the idea has taken root, it’s through the sketch that the process truly begins to take shape.

A Memorable Artist Talk with Carl-Johan Olsson at Riche
This past Thursday, I had the great honor of engaging in a conversation with Carl-Johan Olsson from the Nationalmuseum, in connection with my exhibition at Riche. It was a truly meaningful and intimate exchange, where we explored different perspectives on my work. Sharing my thoughts and ideas alongside Carl-Johan’s deep knowledge and experience made for a generous and insightful dialogue.
I’m deeply grateful to Calle Carboni for participating and for making this evening possible. It was a privilege to have this conversation in such a thoughtful and fitting context. The exhibition remains on view at Riche until Sunday, before it continues its journey south.
A heartfelt thank you as well to everyone who came and helped make this warm Thursday evening so special.

An Essay by Diana Berntsdotter Vallgren about Brytningstid
I recently had the pleasure of receiving a warm and insightful essay written by Diana Berntsdotter Vallgren – an art historian and one of the panel participants during our conversation at Örnsköldsvik Museum and Art Gallery earlier this winter.
In the text, she reflects on my works from the exhibition Brytningstid with great sensitivity and analytical depth.
You’re warmly invited to read her thoughts below.

Shapes of frames as decor
I have recently been thinking a lot about form and narrative in relation to my photographic scenes and stagings. I find it exciting to explore new forms where the stage can function as a 3D dimensional form for the photograph and mimic the stage decor or expected form when we sit in front of a theater set, for example.
The set is something that interests me because it asks questions about expectation that includes both excitement but it also speaks of a visual depth in meeting the director and the set designer's world. I am experimenting to investigate how the form can be an origin for one of my photographic stagings where I want the design of the frame to carry the same symbiosis as the photographic narrative in the communication of the scene. Difficult, exciting and also complex process if you ask me about it.

Process from the studio and teaching
In the studio I am currently working on my exhibition at Galleri Moment in Ängelholm which opens at the end of May. The model is a method for exploring how I will design this space. I also plan to let my titles have a larger part in this exhibition as I plan to show these pages with the works and function a bit like book covers that create a spatial design together with the intimate works.
More about the exhibition will be added on an ongoing basis as I am currently working with tutors and teaching students about their photographic projects at Mituniverseitet in Sundsvall.

Supermarket Art Fair
My plastic-specific installation at Supermarket Art Fair is finally on site. I'm presenting the new work at Galleri Lokomotiv's booth. The gallery is connected to ÖKKV where I work and have my studio.
"At Supermarket I show a new site-specific installation that makes visible my curiosity for scenography and illusion as a temporary place where it is based on the reflection of the landscape in the glass whose image functions as both a limited surface and an image where a meeting creates two extremes as landscape and backdrop, meet just as in the English word "scenery".
The fair runs from April 3rd to 6th.

New week and a new exhibition
The installation has now arrived at Supermarket and work is now beginning to install the final details before Wednesday's opening at the international artist-run gallery fair in Stockholm. It will be exciting to show a work that both reflects the process but also my artistry, how I work and how I conceptually develop in my artistry.
I am exhibiting for Galleri Lokomotiv which is the gallery that is in the same building where I have my new studio in Örnsköldsvik. My work is presented together with Jenny Lundgren and Mikael Arvidsson. Our booth is curated by Maria Sundström and Maria Lagerborg.

Many fun things are happening at the same time, Stockholm x 2.
Time has really flown by since Tuesday's opening at Riche in Stockholm. Many thanks to everyone who came by for the opening. It was really fun to meet and talk to you all about my latest works. It is a privilege to exhibit under the direction of maestro Carl Carboni, thank you again for your commitment and your inspiring energy! Also a big thank you to Carl-Johan Olsson for coming by and your exhibition text was better than I had hoped for and also very thought-provoking. It will be really fun to delve deeper into our perspectives and readings later when we meet again in a conversation. More info about this will come when everything is nailed down in everyone's calendars.
Sometimes you just have to keep up with the times and try to enjoy the moment between turns of standing at your own opening and then a little more than a day later supervising students at the Academy of Fine Arts in their artistic processes. The studio move is now also completed.
Tomorrow I have an early trip to Stockholm and new exhibition work at Supermarket where I will build a new installation with printed glass that will hopefully be finished before Wednesday's opening.
Then I have teaching and exhibition work in various forms at the Academy of Fine Arts with degree projects and supervision at Mid Sweden University, my own exhibition in Ängelholm and later my summer course in Scenic Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts.

Now we're hanging!
After a long train journey through Sweden last night, I finally arrived in Stockholm. This morning we started hanging my new exhibition at Riche, which has a vernissage on Tuesday evening. It feels really fun to see the works placed in this slightly different environment to what I'm used to, but a very pleasant experience. It's going to be really fun to finally show this project, which is a project that I'll be working on continuously in the future. My current idea is that the project should also show different seasons and other places in Northern Sweden that the project originates from both conceptually and in terms of content. Soon I will also post a slightly longer text where I describe my thoughts on the project Nattens grönska.

The installation is ready for transport and I will go directly to the next exhibition...
The painting and installation of the window went quickly, fortunately, because there is a lot to do right now. A few details with moldings and mounting of the printed glass that remain on the work. But I will later install these parts on site to avoid the parts being damaged during transport, which will depart on Monday next week.
Now work awaits for the second exhibition, which opens in less than a week. The works will already be hung by the weekend. It will be really fun to present these new works in Stockholm. Before that, I will be photographed and documented this works tomorrow when I pick these 8 new works from my frame maker.

Exhibition at Riche, Stockholm
I am pleased to invite you to the opening of my new solo exhibition at Riche in Stockholm with the opening on Tuesday, March 25th between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
In my exhibition The Light Before the Poem of the Transition, I present eight brand new photographic works that were produced during the winter of 2025 where the gaze and the light shine are at the center of various photographic poems in northern Sweden.
These tableaux are based on my ongoing project The Greenery of the Night where I am currently investigating how we perceive and represent the presence of the landscape and the search for light for us humans during the ongoing green transition.
Together with the works, an interesting and beautiful exhibition text written by the National Museum's curator
Carl-Johan Olsson will be presented. The exhibition at Riche runs until May 25th.For more information about the exhibition.

New installation for a upcoming exhibition
I am currently working on two exhibitions that will take place one week apart in the end of mars. Today I was working with a new installation that I will show at this year's Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm. Over 50 different artist-run galleries will be presented at the fair.
My work will be presented in a small curated group exhibition together with two artists from ÖKKV where I work and have my studio right now.
This work is an installation that will consist of a installation with windows and printed glass. Currently, I have worked with the surface with putty to get a structure on the otherwise smooth plasterboard before I start painting and installing the window.

Several exciting things are coming up
After a few weeks of traveling to different places in southern Sweden after the artist talk, I have now started in full swing with all the spring exhibitions and projects that will be realized in the near future. This weekend I photographed new works in Skellefteå for my upcoming solo that I will have at Riche in Stockholm in a little over a month. There will also be some fun surprises in connection with this opening that will be announced later. The weekend's pictures will now be finely edited and the formats will be decided before they go for production and finally framing at the framer. I am very much looking forward to presenting these new works even though it has been cold and almost -10 during yesterday's photo shoot so it was more strenuous than I had expected.
Then I will also soon start working on an installation that I will build during an art fair in Stockholm in April. A lot of practical work in a short time awaits as I will also be moving to a new studio.

Artist Talk - About weather and human's relationship to the landscape
The current exhibition Brytningstid tells of a shift, something else is coming. Are we moving towards a posthumanism that challenges the central position of human?
Peter Stridsberg talks with Diana Berntsdotter Vallgren and Linda Nordlander Frisk about the intrinsic value of the landscape and nature as a resource for human needs, based on the exhibition Brytningstid.
